I’m a One Of A Kind
Two can’t be found
If you got some arms, come and put them around me
‘Cause I’m singin’ the swingin’ librarian blues.
She hands me her book,
She says she wants them checked out
I’m doing the checking with my eyes bugged out
‘Cause I’m singin’ the swingin’ librarian blues
She looked so fine in the check out line
I want to give her a ride in my 629
If there;s one thing I’ve learned from Mr. Melville Dewey
It’s that love’s got a place in the library!
When my stomache’s a’growlin’
I need the 641’s
I let it digest and when the day’s all done, you know
I’m singin’ the swingin’ librarian blues
The 727.8 is the
Place where all the babes congregate, that’s why
I’m singin’ the swingin’ librarian blues.
I sleve those books all day and night
Now I know Dewey left and right
I can find any book under the stars above
Now I’ve got to find me some librarian love!
I’m a 020.92
And Baby, I’d like to catalog YOU
I’m singin’ the swingin’ librarian blues.

A Book This Nice
04:12
|
|||
A book this nice, you wanna’ read twice,
And thrice, and four times, and again.
So you check it out and renew it about
Every week until they tell you that you can’t.
I want to open up to the book mark,
I want to smell the pages.
I want to be just like that character that breaks out of cages.
And when you get to the end and they’re rolling the dice,
To be more precise, its paradise, a book this nice.
A book this nice, take my advice,
Is well worth any risk of an overdue fine.
That black and white, its gives you second sight,
But don’t forget to read between the lines.
Chorus
(monologue)
A book this nice, like your favorite spice,
On your favorite day, sitting in your favorite chair,
You hold it in your hand, and you understand
The who and what and when and why and where.

CHORUS
I’m going to the library
Smelling of garlic & stinky sox!
I’m going to the library
Smelling of garlic & stinky sox
I’m going to the library
Smelling of garlic & stinky sox
Do we know Kazooey Decimal,
Do we, Dewey?
Here come the library police!
No fast moves, just pay your overdues!
Here come the library police!
No fast moves, just pay your overdues!
Here come the library police!
No fast moves, just pay your overdues!
Do we know Kazooey Decimal,
Do we, Dewey?
CHORUS
Oh, when those books get up
They get up & they dance around.
Oh, when those books get up
They get up & they dance around.
Oh, when those books get up
They get up & they dance around.
Please Don’t be alarmed,
Just grab Shel Silverstein and dance with him

The more you smile, the happier you get (3xs)
The happier you get, the longer that you live
The happier you get, the longer that you live (3xs)
The longer that you live, the more time that you have
The longer that you live, the more time that you have (3xs)
The more time that you have to sing and dance and play
The more time that you have to sing and dance and play (3xs)
So sing and dance and play each night and every day
Just sing & dance & play each nite & every day (3xs)
Each day and every nite I try to get it right
Each day and every nite I try to get it right (3xs)
I try to get it right on the kisser
I try to get it right on the kisser (3xs)
So kiss me baby, kiss me. Baby, give me a big fat wet one!

If you’re looking for Makayla, and she, can’t be found
If you’re looking for __ and they can’t be found
If you’re looking for __ and you’ve looked all around…
Why don’t you check the playground
You got to check the playground
I saw them swinging on the swing
on the playground, playground,
I saw ‘em on the playground – HUH!
If you’re looking…
Why don’t we try doing something different,
Why don’t we try doing something new?
As soon as we try going where we’ve never gone before
Then we can try a greener shade of blue!
If you’re looking…
If you’re looking…
Why don’t we stop picking on ourselves and others,
‘Cause one likes the tall grass and one likes the shade?
It’s all about the differences between us
It’s all about the choices that we made
On the playground…

On the day I saw a dinosaur playing kissy face with Zsa Zsa Gabor
Was the day before the camera was invented
And on the same day dragons dropped into my bathtub in their underoos
On the day before the camera was invented
I could not believe my eyes
The things I saw, I realize are things to tell
When telling lies, but I saw it all on
The day before the camera was invented
Then I saw tadpoles dropped into a boiling witches magic brew
On the day before the camera was invented
Through my window, on her broom, that witch swept up my messy room
On the day before the camera was invented
Chorus
And on the same day I went walking through a graveyard all alone, I came across a young man sobbing tears. And just as I got closer, I saw nothing but his bones. Sure enough, he said he had been dead for years and years and years. And as the skeleton proceeded to tell me his sad tale of how the sheriff hung him at high noon, the only thing I could think of was that there’d be no pictures of the dance we danced that night under the moon!

Listen to the beat of the drums,
Hear the guitar, it strums,
Hear the tune in your head.
Hanging up the laundry outside,
Taking the bike for a ride,
Did you hear what *&%$,
That chord that I just played said?
StorySinging Dance Music
It’s going to be the next hit
It’s in the soul of everyone
StorySinging Dance Music
Any way you look at it
It takes imagination.
It’s the story of your life here on Earth,
The story starts with your birth,
And it’s better than any book that you’ve ever read.
Plot twists and characters not seen
On your television screen,
And the best part is,
You choose how the chapters end!
Well, if you find yourself in a pickle,
And your funny bone needs a tickle,
And you feel like Chicken Little,
And your decision making skills seem fickle,
Take a look inside,
Jump in and go for a ride,
The story of your own life
Will give you clues of how to survive!

The Three Eyed Dragon

The 3 Eyed Dragon
Kid Kazooey
There once was a knight.
A knight both strong & bold.
He rode on through out the land
And he fought for the princess’ hand.
She said that she could love no man
That had not killed a dragon.
So on his horse he rode,
He rode through out the night.
He came up to a dragon’s den
And he asked, “Oh Dragon, are you within?”
A husky voice answered, “Come in”,
It was the 3 Eyed Dragon.
The 3 Eyed Dragon,
She was a sight to see,
Three eyes just for looking around
And the third one just for me.
The 3 Eyed Dragon,
She stole my heart away.
Since that day, no one’s ever looked at me that way.
So the knight, he rode back home
To set the record straight.
He looked the princess in the eye,
And what he saw there made him cry.
He said that he would rather die,
Than to kill the 3 Eyed Dragon.
“In fact,” said he to her,
“I’ve found another bride.
She may not be as cute as you,
But she has three eyes and you’ve only got two.
And there’s nothing that I’d rather do
Than be with my 3 Eyed Dragon.”
The 3 Eyed Dragon
She was a sight to see
Three eyes just for looking around
And the third one just for me
The 3 Eyed Dragon
She stole my heart away
Since that day, no one’s ever looked at me that way.

Umteen Moons
By Kid Kazooey
Well, I’ve counted umteen times
The moon’s grown full up in the sky,
And I count on it to wax and wane on it’s own
And I count out One Two Three
On my feathers and rocks and pennies
That I carry in my pocket till I get Home
Where I Keep on paying rent so I can set up my tent
In the back yard where there’s no one else around
And nothing but the sounds of crickets and cats
That serve to remind me that the moon is old…
And will keep on spinning around and around.
Well, I’m having so much fun
Getting all of this here work done
And I’m sure that I’ll be working until I die.
If you got a piano to move, ask me to show you
My piano moving groove, and together we’ll move that piano both low and high!
If you got 88 keys, please give all the black ones to me,
That pentatonic scale is sweeter pound for pound
Yea, there’s nothing like the sound of a far away land
To remind me that the world is big, and that the moon is old
And will keep on spinning around and around.
Well, It’s almost full once more
I know I’ve counted this high before
And the added miles between here & now and there & then
Taste the dreams that I’m working through,
Yummy yuck yuck yum, so what else is new
With our noses pointed to the west coast, Are We There Yet?
I’m gonna drive all night long
with my pal in the back seat,
Asleep on my old bass drum and I roll all the windows down to air out the stink in my head
Yea, the moon looks like its going down,
but it’s really just going around,
yea the moon is old and will keep on
spinning around and around!

Kid Kazooey Bloomington, Indiana
A talented musician and a long haired male librarian student, Kevin MacDowell soon discovered upon graduation from IU's School of Library & Information Sciences that the best way to get hired by a library was at 45 minutes at a time, as a children's performer extraordinaire; as Kid Kazooey, the Singin' & Swingin' Librarian! That was 16 years ago (seems like 116!), and the rest is history! ... more
