I put my shoes on first this morning
Then changed out of my pajamas
‘Cuz of something that I learned last week in school.
While the teacher was teaching the lesson
I was gazing out the window
And suddenly remembered something cool,
I was barely six years old
When I was swinging form that swing
And my eyeballs flew right outta’ my head
And the flew right past
The fish on the roof of the courthouse
And I’ll never forget what my mouth,
Which I left back at the swing said, IT SAID:
I live in a town with a fish on the roof of the courthouse
And I ain’t ever gonna’ leave for good!
I live in town with a fish on the roof of the courthouse
And should I go a wanderin’, I’ll come back like they said I would!
They say that fish has been up there since
A master craftsman by the name of Austin Seward
Made it, & gave it, & placed it up there in 1826.
And it has seen the court house change from
Log Cabin to Brick to Limestone,
And surely its fair share of politics.
But to hear our own Mark Twain,
Scott Russell Sanders explain,
It swam up there from the Primordial Sea
Which covered all of Bloomington
And the rest of the Midwest
Hundreds of millions of years ago, and still I see…
CHORUS
Well, from where I stand, the fish looks small,
But stand it on it’s tail, it’s nearly 6 feet tall,
Just think of all the tall tales that tail could tell!
It’s seen Hoagy, Mellencamp, Breaking Away,
The Taliaferos, and the many hats of
Charlotte Zeitlow, yes, we are all of us under its spell.
Without inflection it points in the
direction of any way the
wind blows, snow or rain or hail.
It spins around that dome
In this place that I call Home
As if its guiding by its gilded copper scales.

If you ain’t ever done seen Twiggy
Skiing laps around this great wide world,
I’m telling you, you’re gonna’ flip your wiggy
When you see Twiggy the Water Skiing Squirrel (2xs)
‘Cause Twiggy is a snappy skillful squirrel
And there’s not another rodent in the world
Who can demonstrate such ease while cruising
On those water skis.
Twig knows the secret, that you oughta’
Keep your tail out of the water
If you ain’t ever done seen Twiggy
Circling the lake on water skis,
I’m telling you, you’re gonna flip your wiggy
And you’ll be leaving a’shakin’ at the knees
When you see Twiggy the Water Skiing Squirrel
Chorus
If you ain’t ever done seen Twiggy
Fluffin’ his stuff behind his ski nautique
No, he ain’t glued there, he stands there of his own free will.
Yes, he’s Twiggy the Water Skiiing Squirrel
He’s Twiggy the Water Skiing Squirrel.

If I let you out at night,
Don’t stay out all night

Chirping at me like that,

Vera, lovely Vera
Running through those graveyard stones,
waking up up those tired ol’ bones
(repeat)
Vera, lovely Vera
Sorry that you had to go
Clark Street, off you go
Vera, Lovely Vera
Sorry that you had to go
Pro’lly prowling east side now
Sorry that you had to go

Rufus

|
|||
In the backyard and in the woods
and on my couch, it’s Roof a’Doof
All around the town it’s understood
He’s making friends, He’s Roof a’Doof
He needs to run and chase some/that/that one/one/fawn
I hope he doesn’t catch that one!
Roof a’Doof, Roof a’Doof
As good dogs go, he’s got da goods
His name is Rufus, or Roof a’Doof
He can be stoic, but not aloof
He wants to love you, He’s Roof a’Doof
CHORUS
Where did you go the other night?
And why’d you come back with the neighbor’s wife??
I’ve seen you looking better, a bath would do you good
Looks like you had a wild, wild, time! Roof a’Doof!

Bee and the Dandelion
02:53
|
|||
Said the bee to the dandelion,
have you any nectar?
Have you any nectar today?
Said the bee to the dandelion,
Have you any nectar?
Have you any nectar today?
Oh yes, said the dandelion
Have a little nectar
Have a little nectar today
(Repeat)
And would you be so kind
As to carry my pollen?
Carry my pollen away?
(Repeat)
Oh yes, said the bee
I will carry your pollen
Carry your pollen away
(Repeat)
Then the dandelion said
Quick, get on my yellow head
I close it when the sun goes down
(Repeat)
Then the bee went bzzz
Bzzzzzzzzzz
Oh the bee and the dandelion
Help each other out now
Help each other out today
(Repeat)

HumuHumuNukuNukuAPua’A
It’s the funniest fish you ever saw
HumuHumuNukuNukuAPua’a
Put together like the pieces of a jigsaw
Under the sea and in between the islands
Swims a fish that’s loved by the Hawaiians
And when you pull it out of the sea so big
It snorts a snort like the snort of a pig!
CHORUS
Pele, the Goddess of volcanos,
When she gets jealous, her angry really shows
But this new Life and Land grow out of the sea
And makes happiness for the fish, for you and for me!
Repeat Chorus

I like to ponder the alphabet
all 26 letters are great, and yet -
there are 4 that sing sweet harmony, and thats:
WFH&B
WFH&B
Take a ride in my 629
the only other numbers you will find
sing a tune of radio numerology:
98.1 and 91.3
98.1 and 91.3
In Bloomington we love all animals
hairy and scary and big and small
But the one in the firefighter’s cap is HOT!
That’s the firedog, and his name is Spot
That’s the firedog, and his name is Spot
Community radio, volunteer driven
turn it on and turn it UP! It sounds just like Heaven!
It’s made by and for and with You and Me
WFHB, 98.1 and 91.3!

Kid Kazooey Bloomington, Indiana
A talented musician and a long haired male librarian student, Kevin MacDowell soon discovered upon graduation from IU's School of Library & Information Sciences that the best way to get hired by a library was at 45 minutes at a time, as a children's performer extraordinaire; as Kid Kazooey, the Singin' & Swingin' Librarian! That was 16 years ago (seems like 116!), and the rest is history! ... more
